Details

Lanmor Consulting was appointed by the National Society of Epilepsy to prepare scheme plans for the roads, footways and communal areas on the campus following re-development of the residential care homes on site.

The brief was to link the existing and proposed care homes with the medical facilities, communal areas and cafe/shop which was served by the main access road through the site. Although the access road was only lightly used by visitors and staff it created a divide. To encourage better permeability through campus traffic calming measures were employed to reduce vehicle speeds.

The main element of the proposals was to reduce the impact of the road and parking on the campus and encourage an environment that could be shared with other users, pedestrians while maintaining the service function of the access road. Great care was taken to ensure the proposals catered adequately for the safety for the elderly and disabled residents for the society.

The scheme layouts were then developed to maximise the access to the communal areas and enhance the environment around the cafe and promoted areas for residents to enjoy, following redevelopment of the campus.
