Lanmor Consulting was appointed by King’s College School to prepare a school travel plan. for a proposal to redevelop Wimbledon College Preparatory School.

The school is to be refurbished and extended to provide for an increase in pupil numbers. The existing class rooms are to be refurbished and an additional 6 class rooms to be provided in the new extension.

As part of the application a travel plan was prepared to encourage staff and students to use more sustainable modes of travel, reducing their reliance on the car. We also carried out an assessment of existing and potential pupils locations, so we were able to put together a package of measures to allow pupils to be collected by minibus from locations within easy walking distance of their residence.

To understand the existing modes of travel we undertook a questionnaire survey of all pupils and staff. The results of the survey were used to identify measures to encourage car sharing, greater use of public transport and improvements needed to provide better cycle and pedestrian facilities.
